Crafting the future
of Scotland’s casks
Behind every great Scotch whisky is a great cask.
Behind every great Scotch whisky is a great cask.
Trossachs Cooperage honour tradition, handcrafting every cask with care to bring whisky to life.
In a rural setting, on the border of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, our facility blends traditional techniques with modern sustainability practices.
Founded by second-generation cooper Gary Drummond, Trossachs Cooperage is bringing fresh energy to one of Scotland’s oldest trades.
With over 18 years’ experience at Diageo’s Carsebridge and Cambus cooperages, Gary knows the value of a well-made cask and the skill it takes to repair, rejuvenate, and return it to service.
What we do
Why it matters
Every year, thousands of casks are discarded that could have been repaired. That’s not just a waste of wood, it’s a loss of history and heritage.
By restoring casks, we cut costs for distilleries, reduce environmental impact, and keep the tradition of coopering alive.
Looking ahead
Beyond our working cooperage, which will support distillers looking for sustainable, cost-effective solutions, the future of coopering looks bright.
Plans are underway for a visitor centre, where whisky lovers and curious travellers can discover Scotland’s coopering heritage up close – and maybe catch our craftsmen in action.
Coopering isn’t just a job. It’s a calling passed down through generations.
At Trossachs Cooperage, we honour that legacy every day – preserving tradition, protecting resources, and shaping the casks that shape Scotland’s spirit.
